About this park

Coors Field sits a mile above sea level, and the baseball knows it. Balls carry in the thin air the way rumor carries in a small town — farther than you planned, louder than you wanted. Early years left more foul ground; later fences and humidity tricks tried to settle the argument, but the altitude never resigned.

Outfield gaps stay generous. Extra-base hits are not accidents here; they are the park's vernacular. Pitchers who survive Denver learn to live with contact and miss bats when they can. Managers who walk out of the concourse see the Rockies in the distance and feel the math of thin air before the first pitch.
