Tris Speaker ran the 1920 Cleveland club from center field and the dugout at once. Player-manager. He hit .388 with two hundred fourteen hits and fifty doubles, drove in one hundred seven, and still dared every liner to get past him. Then he steered the Indians to a World Series title—the franchise’s first. Two hats, one shallow patch of grass. The lore panels open on that championship hinge.
